With the VCE students sitting their final examinations at the St Mary’s Parish Centre in recent weeks, Birchip Playgroup has been meeting at the Birchip Memorial Park, and last Friday was excited to see newly laid grass and the water play area fully functional.
The revitalised Birchip Memorial Park is part of the Buloke Playspaces Trail funded by the State Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund and implemented across several community parks in Buloke from Berriwillock to Donald.
The playdates at the park have been a great opportunity for families and carers to relax and chat while the children enjoy the park’s enhanced amenities in a cheerful atmosphere.
Children delighted in splashing through the water features, playing on the playground and running across the expansive, verdant lawns. The space offered not only a fun and safe environment for the children to play but also an inviting spot for parents and caregivers to gather, socialise, and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
The freshly laid green grass and repairs to the other grassed areas and watering system have been undertaken by Mallee Landscape and together with the new pool fencing, bark chips and previously installed play equipment including new swings and musical equipment the park has been transformed into a vibrant, family-friendly community space.
The addition of the water park and new play equipment has added a modern, interactive experience for young families, and it is now so much more inviting, particularly in the hot Mallee summers, for future gatherings of family and friends and community celebrations.
Playgroup will return to their home at St Mary’s Parish Centre as the year quickly comes to an end.
