(From the Goodwin Village)
Donald’s Doris Jones celebrated her 100th Birthday at the Johnson-Goodwin homes on New Years Day – January 1, 2025 with the Residents and Staff of the Goodwin Homes and close family.
Doris was born at home in Meyer Street to Amelia and Walter Golding on January 1, 1925. She was educated in Donald at the Donald Elementary School and completed the last two years as a boarder at Methodist Ladies College in Kew, Melbourne.
Doris married her beloved Graeme, known to us all as “Jonesy” in April 1947, and they had their only daughter Shirley, two years later. “Jonesy” left us in 2007. She has one grandson Bryce, and is a much loved aunt, great aunt, and great, great aunt to her elder brother’s children.
Doris could always be seen in the office of Golding's in Woods Street.
She has always been an active member of our community participating as an office bearer in many organisations. She was an exceptional tennis player, winning many trophies over the years.
Her daughter, Shirley, thanked the staff at the Johnson-Goodwin Homes for their love and care of Doris, who enjoys being there, participating in daily activities.
Tracey Pearse spoke on behalf of the staff acknowledging Doris’s contribution to the Home over the years. Many have been grateful for her assistance.
