For the Best of Birchip’s Good Causes . . . Kindergarten Hosts its Own Flower Show
1 min read

The Birchip kindergarten was buzzing with excitement on Thursday as the children hosted their very own Flower Show, bringing a burst of color and fun to the early childhood centre.

The young participants arrived with beautiful flowers and wheat stalks from home and proudly created a range of colourful and creative boutiques. In addition, the kids built lego, baked and decorated cookies and cupcakes and enjoyed a delicious barbecue lunch, just like the real flower show.

The event wasn't just about having fun, it was also designed to teach the children about the value of money. The kinder kids brought along their loose change and used it to buy popcorn, ice creams and lucky dips from each other’s stalls. The money exchanged during the day was collected and donated to the Birchip Campus of East Wimmera Health Service.

Friends of EWHS Auxiliary members Carol Reid, Cathy Lowry, and Brooke Morris attended the event and spoke to the children about how their donations would be used to benefit the hospital.

The children listened intently, many even donating their leftover change to help make the hospital a better place, both for their grand-parents and for themselves, if they ever needed care.

The children’s parents and friends came early for pick up so they could visit the Flower Show and they were greeted by excited children eager to show off their hard work and beautiful creations.

The event was a delightful mix of fun, learning, and building community awareness, with the children taking pride in knowing their efforts would contribute to improving the local hospital.

It was a heartwarming experience for all involved, fostering a sense of generosity and community in the next generation.
