Wooroonook Lake has long been a favourite of those who camp or go boating and yabbying, but it’s not where most of these hundreds of travellers thought they would be spending the weekend, at the Esoteric Music Festival.
With the Foletti Caravan Park already filled, the opportunity was taken by many to spend hours or days at Donald’s Apex Park, between the two Richardson River bridges at the entrance to the town.
They came from all Australian States, and even from overseas. Their destination was the annual Esoteric Music Festival site, north of the Donald township.
Sadly, though the weather was ideal, their journey was cut short by several kilometres, when the popular event was cancelled early on its first day, Thursday last.
They had to camp somewhere overnight, so they took the next best options.
