Kids’ Wellbeing Book Brings Community Together

Get ready to unleash your creativity and explore the wonders of Buloke with the new Community and Wellbeing Activities Book!

Featuring Buloke’s Bearded Dragon, this exciting book invites kids and families to colour their way through local towns, traditional lands, and iconic landmarks, all while learning fun facts and discovering important wellbeing resources.

Brought to life by the artistic talents of Wotjobaluk artist Kristie Witt and Birchip artist Kristie Dean, and developed by Buloke Shire Council’s Community Recovery Team, this book is a vibrant celebration of connection, culture, and creativity.

More than just a colouring book, it provides essential wellbeing and contact information for young people and carers, including Kids Help-line and Nurse on Call.

Engaging in art activities like those in the book is proven to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and improving overall health and well-being.

The books have been distributed to schools, kindergartens, libraries, neighbourhood houses, and Traditional Owner groups.

Grandparents have particularly appreciated this initiative as a creative and engaging way to entertain visiting grandchildren during the holidays.

Local teachers have praised the book for its engaging approach to teaching geography and fostering a deeper connection to the region.

Importantly, all expenditure for this project has been invested in our community, making it a valuable exercise in inclusion and support, and was supported by the Australian and Victorian Government’s Community Recovery Hubs Program.
