This Sunday, December 15, the Birchip Community Christmas Party will bring holiday cheer to the air-conditioned Birchip Public Hall and adjoining Morrison Street.
With a new daytime format, the event promises a vibrant mix of activities, Christmas sentiment and entertainment, making it an unmissable day for the whole community.
The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with an Ecumenical Church Service, and from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Morrison Street will transform into a bustling marketplace. Stalls will offer an impressive variety of goods, including handmade dog leads, candles, beads, gifts, biscuits, crafts, slime, resin art, plants and much more. These markets provide a great chance to pick up unique Christmas gifts while supporting local stall holders.
Meanwhile, the family-friendly rides and activities will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Attractions such as the Cha Cha, a blow-up activity centre, and bungy trampolines promise hours of fun for kids and thrill-seekers alike. Santa will also make a special appearance, spreading joy and cheer to children of all ages.
Barbecue Lunch
A delicious barbecue lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., complemented by a coffee van, slushies, and the ever-popular CWA Christmas treats. The hall will be air-conditioned, providing a cool and comfortable place to enjoy your meal.
Tables will be set up inside and outside for socializing, and Mallee Family Care’s pop-up playgroup will keep younger children entertained indoors, safe from the heat.
At 1:30 p.m., attention turns to the traders’ draws and a special presentation of “The Year That Was.” This reflective pictorial view of Birchip and Birchip people will celebrate community achievements over the past year, culminating in the announcement of prize winners in the highly anticipated “BIG BUCKS” draw.
Entertainer
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a roving entertainer will delight attendees with magic, stilt walking, balloon art, and face painting. Refreshments such as soft drinks and snow cones will be available throughout the day, with attendees welcome to bring their own alcohol.
While the weather is expected to be warm, organizers have ensured the event remains comfortable. Activities will wrap up before the day’s peak heat, and the pool will open from 2:00 p.m. for anyone wanting to cool off.
The Birchip Community Christmas Party is a celebration of the festive season and the vibrant spirit of the local community. Whether you’re coming for the markets, the rides, the food, or simply to connect with friends and neighbours, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to celebrate the holidays with the community. See you there.
Thanks to sponsors Wilkur Energy Park, O’Connors, FReeZA, Buloke Shire Council and Central Mallee Osteo the event will be offered for a small entrance fee which includes entertainment and rides of $10 per person over three.
