Local youth group members from across Buloke are organising a “Loose Change” quiz night on Friday, July 12, at Charlton Park, and are hoping young people from all across North Central will come along for some fun and potential bragging rights.
Executive members from each of the four youth groups in Buloke came together in term 1 to look at a program for FReeZA events for the remainder of the year that would cater to the needs of young people from all across Buloke.
The group decided to add in a quiz night on the last Friday of these school holidays to be a night of good wholesome fun, where young people from across the region could catch up and not take themselves too seriously.
They’ve chosen an “op shop” theme and its free entry so the young people only need “loose change” to buy spinning wheel tickets, play the joker, enter the coin in the bucket and buy a drink.
The questions have been designed by young people from across the shire and mostly involve local things that young people should know.
There’s lots of prizes to be won in the competitions and in the quiz; there are party pies, sausage rolls and party pasties for supper and young quiz masters, so the night should be lots of fun.
There are buses available from each town to arrive in Charlton at 7 p.m. and they will leave no later than 9.15 p.m. to get most people home by 10 p.m.
The organisers would really appreciate the support of young people from across the shire. Young people can organise 6 friends and enter a table, talk to their friends from other towns and make a combined table, or enter as a team.
Some friendly rivalry is encouraged, and there’s bragging rights up for grabs, so young people are encouraged to get year level teams, or sporting teams together: e.g., year 12 or under-14 netball to compete against other like teams from across Buloke.
Individuals are also welcome to attend, and tables will be made up on the night which could be a force to be reckoned with as they will most likely have the broadest knowledge across the shire because the questions are relevant to all five towns in Buloke.
It is important young people let Keely Allan 0488 930 001, Fletcher Holmes-Brown 0477 829 119, Tylah Haslam 0447 477 403, Jada Symes 0407 778 480 or Simone Christie 0429 922735 know as soon as possible if they need a table and a seat on the bus.
This initiative has been generously funded by the Australian and Victorian Government’s Community Recovery Hubs Program, Buloke Shire Council and the Buloke FReeZA progam.
